We will then go to the Lecture at the Annapolis Maritime Museum:


Old Buck and the Naval School: Franklin Buchanan and the Founding of the U.S. Naval Academy

•    Discover Franklin Buchanan. Why did he become the school’s first Superintendent & why is the Superintendent’s House no longer named for him?
•    Additionally, explore how & why the Naval Academy was established in Annapolis.

 About the Presenter: 

Craig Symonds taught at U.S. Naval Academy for 30 years and served as Department Chair. He is a Professor Emeritus at the U.S. Naval Academy. Professor Symonds is the author of seventeen books, including "Confederate Admiral: The Life and Wars of Franklin Buchanan".
