The next MTOA Webinar Wednesday will take place on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, and will feature The Down East Loop. This 90-minute presentation will be based on a 2023 trip around the Loop by Deb and Mike Hervey. It will include trip-planning tips and an overview tour of the Down East Loop, also known as the Down East Circle Loop or the Down East Cruisers Loop.
The Down East Loop is a breathtaking boating route that takes mariners on an adventurous journey through the northeastern U.S. and Canada. Spanning approximately 3,000 miles, this loop connects the Hudson River, the Erie Canal, the St. Lawrence River, the Gulf of St. Lawrence, the Atlantic coastline of Nova Scotia, and the rugged beauty of Maine before returning south. Along the way, boaters experience a diverse mix of landscapes, from bustling cities like New York and Montreal to quaint fishing villages and unspoiled coastal wilderness. This journey offers a rich blend of history, culture, and natural beauty, making it a popular choice for long-distance cruisers seeking both challenging waters and stunning scenery.
