CBC/SCBC Potomac Cruise
June 17-29

Hosted by: Chuck and Sue Bartlett and Tab and Susan Bass

The CBC and SCBC are teaming up this year to visit DC!  Our cruise will feature a combination of anchoring and marina visits and span 13 days.  You are welcome to join/leave as your schedule permits – you need only to notify the hosts of your itinerary, so we can properly plan each day’s participants.  There will be some “happy hours onboard”, some lunches/dinners out with the group, some “pot lucks” and some “down time” to relax/eat on your own.
All members are required to make their own slip reservations - make sure to mention you are part of the MTOA group!

Of course, the itinerary is flexible based on weather conditions!  At any "port", you may choose to get a slip or anchor, as desired.  Please let the hosts know of changes to your plans.

SYC

Day 1 – Sunday, June 17 - Solomons Island:

We will start at the end of the CBC St. Leonard’s Cruise – meeting up in Solomons on Sunday, June 17 at the Solomons Island Yacht Club for the first evening. http://solomonsislandyachtclub.com/

If you are coming from St. Leonard’s Creek, it will be a cruise 9.0 nm.

SIYC, one of the oldest yacht clubs on the Chesapeake Bay, was founded in 1937. The club has one of the largest burgee displays in its captain’s lounge. Among their burgees is one from the Royal Cork Yacht Club, Cork Ireland, the oldest yacht club in the world (est. 1720). Currently, SIYC displays 357 burgees from 30 states in the U.S. and 34 foreign countries. They have been provided by SIYC members returning from many worldwide cruising locations and by visiting members from other clubs.  MTOA placed our burgee there in 2015 on the last Potomac Cruise and found them to be most welcoming!

Slip cost will be $1.75/ft plus $7 for 30 amp or $10 for 50 amp.  I will send you a form to fill out  to  email or mail to make your slip reservations.  Please fill this out ASAP. Make sure to say you are with the MTOA Group.

We will walk to a nearby restaurant for dinner – or you may elect to stay onboard to eat.

Day 5 – Thursday, June 21 – Wharf Market Docks, DC:

This will be our longest cruise of the trip – 52.3 nm (7.5 hrs. @ 7 knots – depending on current) so we will probably want to get out early!  This cruise will take us by Mt. Vernon – (which we will visit while at DC, since there is no docking or dinghy facilities there.)

Since this is a long day, we will make this evening a “casual evening” with no planned activity.  Just dock, rest and relax.  Perhaps a drink on the pier….

Day 6 - Friday, June 22 – Wharf Market Docks, DC:

We will rent a van to drive to Mt. Vernon. The van is approximately $150/day and will seat 15 people – we will split the cost.
